Walking the Dogs: Sharing the experience

There's something magical about bushwalking in search of fungi. The way the forest floor transforms into a hidden world of vibrant colors and curious shapes never fails to amaze me. Whether it's a bright red Russula peeking through the moss or delicate clusters of tiny Mycena glowing in the undergrowth, fungi foraging has turned every walk into an adventure.

Of course, my two pugs have their own ideas about exploring the wild. While I meticulously scan the leaf litter for the perfect shot, they're busy bouncing through the forest, completely oblivious to the importance of composition. Without fail, just as I press the shutter, a cute little face pops into the frame—tongue out, eyes wide with mischief. Their photobombing skills are legendary, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fungi photography is a slow, deliberate process. It asks for patience and an eye for detail, but when paired with my rambunctious pug duo, it becomes something else entirely—a beautiful mix of serenity and chaos. At the end of the day, it’s not just about capturing fungi in their finest detail. It’s about the shared joy of discovery, the laughter, and the muddy paw prints left behind.... And of course, a good photobomb!
